(too old to reply)

Every time I click a link in the April or October external MSDN I get
prompted for C:\Documents and Settings\mr_foo\Local Settings\Temporary
Internet Files\Content.IE5\FU501P0J\xmlsdk[1].msi.

I believe I've installed the latest xmlsdk, so I have no clue what MSDN
wants.

Hi John,
Post by mr_foo
Every time I click a link in the April or October external
MSDN I get prompted for C:\Documents and Settings
\mr_foo\Local Settings\Temporary >Internet
Files\Content.IE5\FU501P0J\xmlsdk[1].msi.

Do you mean every time you click a link in the MSDN 2005 April or MSDN 2005
October, you will be prompted for the...\xmlsdk[1].msi file? So what
happened next? Your machine hadn't cached the requested installer file?

It sounds like your XML SDK's installation or the MSDN's installation
broken, the windows installer service will always try to fix it if one
installation corrupted. I suggest you try to reinstall the latest XML SDK
at first:

MSXML (Microsoft XML Parser) 3.0 Software Development Kit (SDK)
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=2cf40ae6-368c-4b6b-
a185-2dfa92fb7993&displaylang=en

If this doesn't work, you may need to perform a reinstallation of your
machine's MSDN product. :(

Thanks!

Gary Chang

Thank you. I ended up removing the installer entries in the registry and
reinstalling.
